At this year’s Alzheimer’s Association International Conference in Amsterdam, Dr. Roberts and HBHE PhD student Chelsea Cox presented findings from the National Poll on Healthy Aging regarding older adults’ use of cognitive screening and awareness of blood biomarker testing for Alzheimer’s disease. Their work was highlighted in national news media, including US News and UPI.

Dr. Roberts appointed as the interim department chair of health behavior & health education
On May 19, 2023, Dr. Roberts was approved by the Board of Regents as the Interim Department Chair of HBHE. Roberts is the successor to retiring HBHE professor, Cleopatra Caldwell, and will begin his new role on September 1. Check it out here.

Sarah McCain: our new Project Manager
Sarah McCain, a recent graduate from the MPH program in Health Behavior & Health Education at the University of Michigan School of Public Health, was hired as the Roberts Research Group Project Manager. Sarah has strong interests in aging and public health and worked during her MPH program as an intern at the Michigan Alzheimer’s Disease Center. Best wishes to Rebecca Ferber, our group’s previous Project Manager for the past six years, as she transfers to a new position at Michigan Medicine.

Alzheimer’s Disease Research Centers Publication
An article was published in Alzheimer’s & Dementia: Translational Research & Clinical Interventions, describing the results of an online survey at National Institutes of Health-funded Alzheimer’s Disease Research Centers (ADRCs) in the United States. The survey examined how individual centers are addressing issues related to the return of research results. Read more here.


ETHICAL, LEGAL, SOCIAL, AND POLICY IMPLICATIONS OF WORKPLACE GENOMIC TESTING FUNDED BY NHGRI
Researchers from the University of Michigan School of Public Health and the Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine will lead an interdisciplinary, multi-institution study of the ethical, legal, and social implications (ELSI) of workplace genomic testing (wGT) in the United States.
