Seniors Promoting English Acquisition and Knowledge (SPEAK!)

Background

SPEAK! is designed to engage older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) as volunteers helping English Language Learners (ELLs) improve their speaking skills via structured conversations using videoconferencing.

Study Aims

This project will refine and test the “SPEAK!” intervention. We hypothesize that these structured, goal-oriented conversations will increase older adults’ psychological well-being and cognitive functioning.

Funding Source

SPEAK! is funded by the National Institutes of Health National Institute of Aging R21 Grant.

Key Personnel

John Piette, PhD, Principal Investigator
Scott Roberts, PhD, Co-Investigator
